Chhayana is an experienced and motivated Australian architect with a creative approach and fresh ideas. In her eight years since graduating she has acquired a wide range of experience with BVN, one of Australia’s most reputable design firms, JM Architects and Keppie Design in Glasgow.
Working for large firms has given Chhayana the opportunity to work on a range
of projects from housing to commercial and institutional developments. Projects
have ranged from small low cost housing developments to large hospital developments
worth £300 million. She has incorporated the principles of sustainable
design throughout her work, and attended seminars and conferences to bolster
her knowledge in this area.
Chhayana was registered as an Architect in Queensland in 2006. She can work
as part of a team or independently and is willing to engage in all aspects
of the architectural process. Although working for large firms Chhayana was
fortunate to be exposed to many aspects of architecture from client briefing,
concept design and presentation through to contract documentation and administration,
including of design and build projects. She is adept at a wide range of technical
tools, including Microstation, Revit, AutoCAD, the Adobe Creative Suite and
office management programs.
Chhayana has traveled in Asia, Europe and the USA visiting architectural practices
and exploring contemporary design. This experience, along with the knowledge
gained from involvement in arts projects and architecture competitions, has
expanded her sense of the possibilities inherent in architecture. She aims
to apply these experiences to her work. This follows her philosophy that design
should challenge and enhance people’s perception of the built environment.
Chhayana sees architecture as aiming to meet the needs of users while also
expanding their experience of the spaces they inhabit.
